Maris Callahan is the head of PR and social media for Home Chef, one of the largest meal kit delivery companies with more than 3.5 million meals delivered each month.
Previously she ran the communications department at @properties, one of the top 11 residential brokerages in the US by sales volume, and the #1 independent real estate brokerage in the city of Chicago. Prior to joining the @properties team, where she managed PR, social media, content and digital marketing, Maris ran the consumer and corporate public relations efforts for Donuts Inc. Donuts is the domain name registry that is pioneering the "not-com" movement with more than 200 creative, meaningful and memorable domain name endings.
Maris spent five years running her own public relations consulting business, where she helped small- to mid-size companies develop and implement customized public relations and social media strategies. Leveraging expertise in media relations, social media management, strategic marketing, and event planning, Maris helped place her clients in numerous national media outlets including CNN, Good Morning America, The New York Times, The TODAY Show and many others.
Maris Callahan has also worked for some of the world’s top public relations firms, including Burson-Marsteller, Edelman Public Relations (the nation’s largest independent PR firm) and Lippe Taylor Brand Marketing. During this time, Maris has played a key role for clients across all industries such as Starbucks Coffee Company, Canon USA, Quaker Oats, Hormel Foods, Wheat Foods Council, David’s Bridal, Doncaster, American Signature Furniture and Curvation Intimate Apparel.
In addition to her work in public relations, Maris is an experienced freelance writer and blogger with a keen understanding of how to work with both traditional and social media outlets. In 2008, Maris founded In Good Taste, an online magazine that celebrates the simplicity of everyday occasions with a focus on cooking, dining and entertaining.
As the author and publisher of In Good Taste, Maris has represented numerous brands on-air in regular television segments on WGN-TV, ABC Chicago, NBC Chicago and CBS Chicago. With a keen sense for predicting trends and understanding what drives news, Maris develops branded media campaigns for clients that incorporate multiple media channels and borrow from her experience as a seasoned publicist.
Maris has a BA in Writing and Communications from Susquehanna University and resides in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood with Brad, her significant other, and their chihuahua Henry, her other significant other.
